Whether you are feeling overwhelmed and unhappy in the current state of your marriage and are seeking a divorce, fighting for custody of your children, or seeking to modify a current divorce decree, our dedicated attorneys will fight for you!   Our firm handles various family law issues such as divorce, custody/visitation, paternity, adoption, child support, decree modifications and contempt actions.

DIVORCE
Divorces are a life-changing event and usually involve intense emotions.  If you are going through a divorce, whether it is contested or uncontested, you should have a knowledgeable divorce attorney at your side, no matter the relationship you have with your soon-to-be ex-spouse.  Our firm understands the impact a divorce can have on a family and our attorneys will work closely with you throughout the divorce process to resolve any outstanding issues.  At Melikian Law Firm, we have the knowledge, skill, compassion, and tenacity to make sure that your rights are protected and that you receive the best possible result.

CUSTODY/VISITATION
The dissolution of any marriage or relationship raises a wide array of issues. When children are involved, the resulting issues are even more complex as custody, visitation and child support issues come to the forefront. Our attorneys work to ensure that a fair arrangement, based upon the children’s best interests, is reached for you.

Child custody is dual faceted in that it encompasses both the physical and legal custody of the child. Physical custody is where the child resides while legal custody entails the decision making process for the parents including the right to decide education preferences, religious practices, medical treatments and activity involvement. Both of these aspects must be considered during child custody proceedings, regardless of whether you are seeking primary custody or joint custody with the other party.  Our law firm routinely handles child custody cases and can help to determine the best custody arrangement for you and your children.

PATERNITY
Establishing rights and responsibilities to a child when the mother and father are married at the time of birth is an easy task. However, when not married, many questions arise as to who is supposed to provide what for the child and who is supposed to have custody of the child.  If you are in this situation, our attorneys can file a paternity action to take the guesswork out of the equation and establish what your rights are now.!

ADOPTION
Thinking of making your family one member larger? Thinking of adopting your stepchildren?  The state of Arkansas has many rules and regulations on adoption.  Our attorneys will work with you through the process to help you grow and complete your family unit.

CHILD SUPPORT
Our firm routinely handles matters involving child support in conjunction with a divorce proceeding or paternity action, as well as modifying a parent’s child support obligation when there has been a change in circumstance, such as income, that warrant a modification of a parent’s child support obligation.

MODIFICATION
Times change and so can your circumstances.  Maybe when your divorce decree was signed years ago, you were in a much different situation than you are now. If you are not satisfied with your current child support, separate maintenance (alimony) payments, or your custody/visitation schedule, a material change in circumstance may warrant a modification.  At Melikian Law Firm, our attorneys can evaluate your situation and work to help you to successfully obtain a modification of your existing Divorce Decree or other Order to better fit your need.

CONTEMPT
If you have a Divorce Decree and/or Order that your ex-spouse or child’s parent if failing to follow, you may want to file a contempt action to ask the court to enforce the order against the violating party.  Our experienced attorneys can evaluate your situation and advise you on how best to proceed.
